NaNoWriMo 2012

Since the month is winding down now, I guess I'll share how my month's been. I attempted National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) for the second time this year. Last year I didn't have a clue of what I was doing, and yet somehow managed to pull just over 20,000 words out of the air. This year, I had been planning my novel since last year's NaNoWriMo...and made it to a grand total of 2,913. Fail. Haha. Although the day's not over yet, and I could still up that count...but I probably won't. I blame my procrastination issues. And the fact that the first week of the month, I had borderline bronchitis, so that wiped out a whole week of writing. Plus a little recovery time. After that, I lost interest for a brief bit. And then for the majority of Thanksgiving break, I was working like a mad...woman...on everything "social media". I completely re-built my website, created a Facebook fan page, updated my Twitter, and then created this blog. In my mind, I think I should be allowed a little allowance here for not finishing my novel in time, seeing as I was so busy with everything else. Plus, I'm a lot happier now with everything done. :)
But I'm going off on a little bunny trail here...moving on...
I do have a couple of close friends here (as well as a new NaNoWriMo friend from the toe of the boot) who have all told me that they want to see me finish my novel. In my mind, I take that as more of a "you have no choice" kind of thing. So with that in mind, I am going to attempt to finish it. Whether or not I choose to publish it, I'm not sure yet. The plot sounded good at first, but now it kinda sounds cheesy to me. I've had a couple of people tell me that it sounds good to them, and they might want to read it. Even a guy friend of mine told me that he's not one for the romance genre, but that it sounded really good to him, and he liked the premise for my novel. So I don't know, I guess maybe that's still up in the air for now. I should probably focus on finishing it first, then decide if I want to publish it or not. I have a couple of friends I could possibly give the rough draft to, if they wanted to critique it for me. That would probably help.
Anyway, so yeah, my month's been kinda crazy. But I'm starting to think that's just how my November is going to be from now on. I can easily see myself doing NaNoWriMo for a long time to come. Hopefully in the future, I'll have better luck with finishing my novel within the month. And who knows? Maybe I'll even finish it early one year. That would be awesome. And for anyone who's following my blog, I'll be having a NaNoWriMo novel word counter off to the side here (-->) until I get to that 50,000. So you can keep up with that, and pep talks would be appreciated, haha. And you will most-likely know as soon as I finish because I'll probably post a celebratory post declaring that the 50,000 word count has been conquered! That will be a great day for sure.
Well, I suppose that's everything for now. I'll be posting again in a couple of days. :)

     Until then.

Random Celebratory Post!!

Ok, so this isn't exactly random. I have a point to make here. I have somehow seriously underestimated any number of potential fans of my writing. I know that because this morning, I am transferring some stories from an old writing account to the new one. On the portfolio page, it has your story's title, what genre it is, how many pages, read count, and comment count.
Anyway, I just happen to glance toward the middle of the page to see that ohmygosh, I have over 1,000 reads on one story alone! It's a "short" story (I put short in quotations because my brain insists that short is never below 1,000 words), but still, I'll take the 1,090 reads! It still hasn't sunk in that this has actually happened. It's just...amazing, really. I'm speechless. And I'm a girl! We always have things to say, haha.
But before I go off ranting, there's one person I should thank the most for. And I can never thank them enough for this. I want to thank my God for just being awesome every day. For being there for me when I needed Him most, and for giving me this great talent to share with everyone. I hope any future fame will never go to my head. This 1,090 reads just gives me a mere taste of what that might be like. And I couldn't feel more humbled that that many people enjoy my writing. Thank you everyone, for either reading what I write, or supporting me all along the way in some way. You'll never know how much you mean to me, and how grateful I am for you to be in my life. :)

     Thank You God!

The Unknown Stationary

So a year or two ago, one of my besties randomly made some stationary for me to use as inspiration for my characters in the main book I've been working on. I've told her almost everything there is about this book (almost...some things need to remain a surprise...even to a bestie). But she does know that Derek never fell out of love with Kelsey.
I may not ever get a chance to use the stationary, but I rather like it either way. I included a picture below of what it looks like. It starts off with "My Dearest Kelsey," and ends with "Yours Forever, Derek". And the picture used for the watermark was, at the time, the current picture I was using for the cover. It's changed since then, but I think this works much better.
Thank you, bestie, for always being supportive of my writing. :)

New Story!

Hey everyone! So...Clue: A Modern Tale is finally up! I have it posted on both my Wattpad and Booksie accounts now. It's just the prologue so far, and it's only a couple of paragraphs long, but I am hard at work trying to get more chapters finished, so bear with me. :)
Here are the links to Clue:

Wattpad: http://www.wattpad.com/story/2352552-clue-a-modern-tale

Booksie: http://www.booksie.com/mystery_and_crime/novel/lizanneglasgow/clue:-a-modern-tale

     Thanks!

Note: The prologue is the only part written from this characters' point of view.

Note note: This is going to be a little different than my usual projects I write.

A Burst of Genius!

Ok, so I'm a bit OCD on posting my drafts in order, but right now, I'll forgive myself. The side project (Clue: A Modern Tale) book I've been brainstorming over for the past few months looks like it might see the light of day really, really soon! As in, by the end of the day! What was originally the prologue, I changed to the first chapter. I knew what I wanted to do for the new prologue, I just needed to think of a great first line. I've started being more hard on myself about writing a first line that immediately grabs the reader's attention and immerses them into the story. I think this one does just that, and keeps attention for the remainder of the prologue. It's only a paragraph long, but some of my better work, I believe.
Anyway, I just had to let some of the excitement out before I go to bed (yes, just now going to bed. Night owl here, remember?). I'm excited to share the prologue with you later today! It will be posted on my Wattpad and Booksie accounts. Look for my next post sharing the links!

Hello There...

Hey everyone! Welcome to my new blog. Which, by the way, I have no idea what I'm going to write about on here. So this first post is probably going to be short and sweet.
I've had other blogs before, but this is my first writing blog. I do have a couple of ideas bouncing around in this round thing I'd like to call my head. In fact, if you'll take a little looksee to the right here (-->), you'll find a poll of what I should write about on here. The ideas so far are listed as Current Books, Future Book Ideas, Teasers, Book Reviews, and Other. You have the option of selecting multiple choices if you simply can't make you're mind up because I'm awesome like that (See how I turned that around on you? Yeah...comes from being awesome. Hehe.). However, if you select Other, please just drop me a quick note via email (LizanneGlasgow@Gmail.com) and let me know your thoughts. I'll share the results as I get them, and whether or not I will consider it. If you would be so kind as to give me a name to address you with, I will even give you a little shoutout. :)
So...yeah. That's pretty much all I've got right now. But before you go, feel free to check out my brand new website, and "like" my official Facebook Page or Twitter...or both! Also feel free to follow my blog, I know it's not much yet, but hopefully I'll have some more ideas soon on what to write about. I have a few ideas, but nothing concrete yet. So go on and vote already, why are you still reading this? Go vote on the poll, then you can read the little note I left you below. Yes...it has to be in that order. Hey...don't argue with me now. (Hehe.)
Yeah....going to bed now. If you're reading this, I already love you because you were awesome enough to come visit my blog. Whether you become a fan or not anytime in the future, well, that's entirely up to you. In any case, I look forward to sharing my stories with you.

     Thank You.

Note: Yes, I realize at the time posted, it is fairly late. Not really for a night owl such as myself. But I did kinda promise myself that I would have my first blog post posted "today", as in, before I went to bed tonight. So here it is, I hope you enjoyed it! :)

Note note: Ok....soo maybe this wasn't quite as short and sweet as I thought. Apparently I have more to say than I realized. Or...it could just come from being a girl. Or a mix of both, I dunno. (Probably the latter, leaning more toward being a girl, hehe.)
